Political parties, citizens, (in India or outside the country) are gearing up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. As per the sources, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is likely to announce the dates of the general elections in the first week of March.
According to PTI report, the ECI is in the process of deciding the number of phases and the month in which the polling will be held. In 2014, the ECI announced election schedule on March 4. The polling was held in 9 phases starting from April 7 to May 12, 2014.
Meanwhile, the tenure of NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will end on May 26, 2019. The elections will test PM Modi’s popularity against grand opposition alliance.
