Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday had set a five- member task force as she gears up to leave for London for delivering a lecture at Oxford University on March 27.

Senior ministers comprising Aroop Biswas, Firhad Hakim, Sujit Bose, Chandrima Bhattacharya and Shashi Panj a will coordinate with the bureaucrats for ensuring smooth running of the state government in her absence.

A team, comprising Vivek Kumar, Rajeev Kumar, Manoj Verma, Nandini Chakraborty, and Prabhat Misra will take care of the key functioning of the administration.

However, TMC leaders Subrata Bakshi and Abhishek Banerjee will take care of political decision making.

Addressing a press conference, Mamata also took a dig at ‘conspirators’ for allegedly misrepresenting the lecture's venue.

“A conspiracy has been hatched to tarnish the name of Bengal. When we visited Singapore after coming to power in 2011 we noticed that the name of ‘Bangla’ has been tarnished. One should remember that if Maharashtra is the financial capital then Bengal is the cultural capital,” said Mamata.

Mamata also warned that if someone tries to malign ‘Bangla ma’ then it won’t be tolerated.

“Such information came to us from abroad. Do the conspirators think that we don’t have connections outside India? You can insult me but insulting Bengal will not be tolerated. There is a section of people who unnecessarily tries to create unrest in Bengal for which I can’t go anywhere. But this time after getting clearance from the Government of India, I am going to London for a few days,” added the West Bengal Chief Minister.
