Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister on Wednesday suddenly visited Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar at his residence. According to Raj Bhawan sources it is learnt that the two spoke on the budget and also on setting up of West Bengal Legislative Council which the BJP leaders have opposed.

“Governor wanted to know about Vidhan Parishad and so the Chief Minister came to inform him about the same and they also spoke on the budget,” said the sources.

Notably, soon after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee left Governor’s House, video of the two meeting was posted from Dhankhar’s Twitter handle with caption give as ‘Hon'ble Chief Minister @MamataOfficial called on Hon'ble Governor Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar at Raj Bhavan today. The two had an hour-long interaction without aides.”

It can be recalled that the two have always engaged in a war of words. Mamata recently called Dhankhar a ‘foul person’ as his name was allegedly mentioned in the 1996 Hawala Jain scam, which subsequently Dhankhar had negated.

Earlier, on several occasions TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee had said that Dhankhar is working as a BJP worker and had also written three letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on removal of Dhankhar.

Dhankhar too had time and again been vocal on the post-poll violence in West Bengal and recently had claimed that the issue of post-poll violence was not mentioned in his Assembly speech and also said that despite seeking clarity, no clarification was given by the Trinamool Congress.
