Kolkata: BJP will be giving a letter to all parties seeking support for NDA Presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu.
Addressing the media, state BJP president Sukanta Majumdar said that he won’t be surprised if Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also supports her.
“This is the first time a tribal woman from East India is being selected as the Presidential candidate. Local parties from other states will also support Murmu. I won’t be surprised if the Chief Minister herself supports Murmu. We will send a letter seeking support to all local parties including all the MPs and MLAs of the state,” said Majumdar.
Speaking further about Murmu, Majumdar said that she was Animal Husbandry minister before and also served as a Governor of Jharkhand.
“Hailing from a small village Murmu refused the job of a teacher to join politics and serve people,” mentioned the BJP state president.
It can be noted that the opposition parties unanimously have nominated Yashwant Sinha as their Presidential candidate and Sinha on Monday had also submitted his nomination at the national capital in presence of TMC national secretary Abhishek Banerjee, TMC Lok Sabha MP Saugata Roy and members of other opposition parties.
