Kolkata: 144 days after the incident, West Bengal Police Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Monday submitted a chargesheet at Alipore court and stated that deceased student leader Anis Khan was not murdered but died of falling from the terrace.
In the chargesheet, there is a mention of five police personnel including the former OC Debabrata Chakraborty along with Nirmal Das, Pratim Bhattacharya, Kashinath Bera and Sourav Karar.
Saleem Khan, father of Anis, said that he doesn’t have ‘faith’ in the chargesheet submitted by SIT.
“The police had killed my son and the same police are submitting the chargesheet. I still want an investigation by the CBI. The chargesheet was submitted before I could move the division bench of the Calcutta High Court,” said Saleem.
TMC spokesperson and state general secretary Kunal Ghosh said that the SIT has done ‘proper’ investigation.
Ghosh also mentioned that the Calcutta High Court has shown ‘faith’ in the police.
State Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that the ‘mystery’ of the student leader’s death would remain ‘mystery’ if the police don't conduct a ‘proper’ probe.
The BJP and the Left Front also slammed the TMC government and stated that the state government is trying to ‘hide’ the actual cause of Anis Khan’s death.
