Patting back of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditiyanath, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called him the 'most useful' person for the state. While laying the foundation of Ganga Expressway on Saturday at Shahjahanpur, PM Modi said that everywhere in the state I hear one chant and that is --- "UP Plus Yogi, Bahut Upyogi (very useful)."
Attacking the opposition during his address after laying the foundation, PM Modi said that before 2017, few people had a problem with development. For them, development meant only the prosperity of a selected few. These people were only doing politics for vote banks and not for the development of UP.
He said the opposition during their government in power only snatched the rights of the poor and did nothing for their upliftment. Now, these people are worried as the present government is bulldozing the properties of mafias.
The Prime Minister said that Ganga Expressway would make it easy for people to go from one city in the west to the other side in the east. Besides, it would also connect Delhi with Bihar.
It would be of help for the farmers and especially the food processing industry will benefit the most due to ease in transportation. He said that for a state like UP which is stretched to 1,000 kilometres from west to east, a double engine government is needed for all-round development.
With the same party ruling at the Centre and the state, expressways are being constructed and new rail tracks are being laid in UP.
PM said that such expressways are boon to the state as they would not only increase facilities and comfort of people but also help them prosper.
The 594 Kilometer Ganga Expressway would begin from Meerut and go up to Prayagraj covering Hapur, Bulandshahar, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Raibareili and Pratapgarh districts.
The six-lane expressway could be expanded to eight-lane later on and with a total cost of Rs 36,290 crores.
UP Industries and Expressways Development Authority (UPIEDA) is the nodal agency for it. The Ganga Expressway would be constructed in four packages, for this, the UPIEDA has selected Adani group for three, and Mumbai-based IRB construction for one package.
