Flash floods were reported from Himachal Pradesh’s Bhagsu Nag on Monday after Dharamshala received heavy rain, news agency ANI reported.
While there has been no report of loss of life, visuals of cars being washed away and rivers overflowing have been circulating on social media. The state government and local administration officials are present on the spot for relief and rescue work.
Meanwhile, around 10 shops were damaged as the Manjhi River raged through Himachal Pradesh following heavy rainfall in Dharamshala, reported ANI.
Additionally, the national highway near Jhakri in the Rampur area of Shimla district was blocked following heavy rainfall. The process of clearing the road had begun with officials making their way to the site.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely today at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Gujarat Region, Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh &Yanam, Telangana, coastal and south interior Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed yesterday.
