PATNA: An armed gang of six criminals on Thursday looted Rs 6.84 lakhs from Saraiya branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) in Muzaffarpur town in Bihar. The loot took place in the busy market area of the divisional headquarters during day light.

According to the police, six robbers came on three motor cycles to the bank. "Three of them entered the branch and other three were seen brandishing revolvers outside the bank. They opened several rounds of fire in the busy market area, but no one was injured", the police said.

Sub-divisional police officer of Saraiya, Rajesh Sharma said, "Police teams have been sent for lookout of the robber". Sharma added that the criminals overpowered the bank staff on revolver point and robbed Rs 6.84 lakh cash.

Further investigation is underway and the police are tracing the robbers.
