Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders Isudan Gadhvi and Mahesh Savani were on Wednesday allegedly attacked by "Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) goons" in Gujarat's Visavadar. Reportedly, 10 were injured in the attack.
"BJP goons attack AAP leaders @isudan_gadhvi and @maheshsavani9 in Leria village, Visavadar, Gujarat," the party tweeted. "BJP is getting rattled as AAP's support increases across Gujarat after exemplary debut in local body polls," it added.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said that some people were standing on the road raising black flags in protest against party leaders Isudan Gadhvi and Mahesh Swani. Reportedly, they the sticks to attack the convoy. The party's Gujarat unit then took to Twitter and shared images of its injured leaders covered in blood. They even shared pictures of the vehicles damaged in the attack.
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal spoke to his Gujarat counterpart Vijay Rupani and urged him to file an FIR and arrest the culprits of the attack.
"Spoke to Vijay Rupani ji. Urged him to file FIR, arrest the culprits, ensure strong action against culprits and ensure protection of AAP leaders and workers," Kejriwal said.
AAP Gujarat president Gopal Italia said the BJP is "frustrated" as the party is momentum in the state. "AAP is raising public awareness on education, health, employment, agriculture and anti-corruption issues across the state," he said. "BJP has morning to show in the name of development, so violence has come down. Shame (sic)," Italia added.
