MEA Raveesh Kumar is briefing the media on escalating Indo-Pak tension.
Raveesh Kumar, MEA: One Pakistan Air Force fighter aircraft was shot down by Indian Air Force. In this engagement, we have lost one MiG 21. Pilot is missing* in action. Pakistan claims he is in their custody. We are ascertaining the facts
Earlier today, India on Wednesday shot down a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) F-16 that had come close to the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The aircraft fell 3 kilometres inside Pakistani-administered Kashmir. As the PAF jets approached the LoC, IAF scrambled fighters and the retaliatory fire from the ground forced the F-16s to return but not before one took the hit and went down.
Pakistan on Wednesday claimed that it shot down two Indian military aircraft over Pakistani air space and arrested two pilots. However, there was no official confirmation from the Indian government. In a 46-second video released by the Pakistan Army, a blindfolded man claimed that he’s IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan.
