New Delhi: The counting of the Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) slips will begin only after the electronic voting machine (EVM) counting is over. Delhi Chief Electoral Officer Ranbir Singh said the declaration of the Lok Sabha election results on Thursday may be delayed by five to six hours because counting of the VVPAT slips will take more time.
He told reporters here that five VVPATs will be randomly selected from each Assembly segment and they will be counted in a special VVPAT counting booth in each counting hall. There are separate counting centres for each of the seven parliamentary constituencies in Delhi.
Delhi has a total of 70 Assembly constituencies and as such 350 VVPATs will be counted. In each counting hall, Singh said, 14 EVMs will be counted at a time and the results of each round will be compiled and uploaded on ‘Suvideha’ app accessible to public. He said the counting will begin at 8 AM with the counting of the postal ballot.
