New Delhi : Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday appealed all the political parties, especially the Congress and the Left, to cooperate in passing the GST Bill in the Parliament.

“I appeal to all the political parties, especially the Congress and Left to please cooperate for passing the GST Bill. This is very important for our economic growth,” Naidu said. “My appeal, only two days are left for the Parliament, people of India are disgusted, disappointed and depressed. They are unhappy and angry. The way things are happening in the Parliament, the image of the Parliament is going down,” he added.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has issued whip to its MPs asking them to be present in both the Houses of Parliament today as the government wants to pass the key legislations like GST Bill during the remaining part of the current session which is scheduled to end tomorrow. The GST Bill is listed for discussion and passage in the Rajya Sabha today where the NDA does not have a majority. The constitutional amendment bill needs the support of two-thirds of the House. With the Monsoon session nearing its end, the government is keen to push the bill, with some parties including the Samajwadi Party breaking ranks with the Congress on the issue of stalling Parliament.
