Uttar Pradesh government lifted lockdown restrictions from 71 districts except Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Meerut and Sahranpur. COVID retrictions will remain in place till the districts are showing more than 600 actives cases.

Partial lockdown has been lifted from entire state except four districts. However the weekend lockdown on Saturdays and Sunday would continue in the entire state.

According to the information given by the additional chief secretary, Dr Navneet Sehgal on Sunday active Covid-19 cases in 71 districts including Noida, Ghaziabad, Varanasi and Muzaffarnagar has come down below 600 after which it was decided to lift restriction placed in order to curb the spread of the virus.

He said that the state government officials are keeping strict vigilance of the COVID situation in Lucknow, Meerut, Saharanpur and Gorakhpur and decision of lifting lockdown in these districts would be taken on Tuesday.

Sehgal informed, "The number of COVID cases in the state are on a decline and 36 districts have recorded COVID-19 cases in single digit only in the last 24 hours".

At present, there are 17,900 active coronavirus cases in the state and only 1165 fresh cases were reported in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate in the state is 0.4 per cent now while the recovery rate in 96.7 per cent. Till date more than 2 crore people in the populous state have been vaccinated. Along with this, a special drive for vaccination for women will begin from Monday.
