Jhagadia (Guj): Gujarat Chief Minister Anandi Patel inaugurated US-based nutrition company Abbott Global’s greenfield manufacturing plant in Jhagadia village of Bharuch district set up at an investment of Rs 450 crore.
It would be the first greenfield plant in India set up Abbott, which has an annual turnover of USD 22 billion, according to an official statement issued by the Gujarat government here today.
Gujarat Chief minister Anandi Patel thanked Abbott for establishing its plant in Gujarat and also said that India and US have come togather for the “betterment” of “humanity”.
“We have recently entered into an era of strengthening of Indo-US ties. The world’s largest democracy and the oldest democracy, have come together, for betterment of the humanity, with the mantra of ‘Sabka saath, sabka vikaas’ (together we all grow),” the statement quoted her saying.
Abbott plans to build toilets and sanitation blocks at the cost of Rs 3 crore as a part of its corporate social responsibility, the statement said.
According to the company’s official statement, the plant would manufacture high-quality nutritional products including ‘Similac’ for infants, ‘PediaSure’for toddlers, ‘Ensure’ for adults, ‘Mama’s Best’ for pregnant lactating mothers and ‘Glucerna’ for diabetics.
