Hapur, Uttar Pradesh: A video from Uttar Pradesh's Hapur district recently surfaced on social media, wherein three young men could be seen performing life-threatening stunts with a Maruti Swift on the busy Delhi-Lucknow National Highway-9.

The youths were seen dangerously hanging out of the moving car’s windows, seemingly for the sake of capturing content for social media.

Police Issue Heavy Fine

The video, which quickly went viral on social media, also caught the eye of the traffic police, who promptly initiated action. According to a report by Dainik Bhaskar, the Hapur Traffic Police tracked down the vehicle’s owner and issued a fine of Rs 18,500. The incident reportedly took place near the Simbhaoli police station.

Traffic Inspector Chhaviram told Dainik Bhaskar, “Such stunts are dangerous for the safety of people. This can also lead to a major accident.” He further emphasised that similar cases have been reported in Hapur in the past and that the police have consistently taken action against the violators.

The increasing obsession among social media users to gain online popularity has become a cause for concern. Authorities said that the pursuit of viral fame is pushing individuals to endanger not only their lives but also the lives of others on the road.

“Traffic rules have been made for the safety of the people and strict action will be taken for violating them,” Chhaviram further told the publication. Additionally, he appealed to the public not to engage in or encourage such dangerous behavior.
