Unnao: A disturbing video originating from Unnao district in Uttar Pradesh, has caused a stir on social media. The footage, reportedly captured near Safipur Kotwali, depicts Uttar Pradesh Police constables engaging in unruly behaviour with local vegetable vendors. According to reports, the incident occurred when two constables purchased green vegetables from a shop in the Safipur Kotwali vicinity. A disagreement over payment ensued, with the young shopkeeper asserting that he was shortchanged. In response, the constables allegedly resorted to verbal abuse and physical assault.

The video's rapid dissemination caught the attention of law enforcement authorities, prompting immediate action. Superintendent of Police Siddharth Shankar Meena promptly assigned the investigation to CO Safipur, Rishi Kant Shukla.

Home Guard Suryapal and PRD jawan Umakant, both stationed at Safipur Kotwali, visited Pal's shop after completing their duty and purchased green produce amounting to Rs 105. However, they handed over only Rs 100, prompting Pal to request the outstanding amount.

When neighbouring shopkeepers attempted to intervene, they too were met with resistance. The constables allegedly hurled threats and abuses at Pal. The video evidence of this alleged misconduct by the Home Guard and PRD jawans swiftly gained traction on social media, prompting a swift response from the Unnao police department. Suspensions are reportedly under consideration for both individuals involved.
Police initiate inquiry
The police has taken cognizance of the matter and ordered a probe into the matter. They Police said, "Area officer Safipur was directed to investigate the viral video of PRD jawan and home guard and take necessary action." The police is investigating the video and said that action will be taken against the accused after the inquiry in the matter is completed.
