Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday hit out at BJP president Amit Shah for saying that the Centre had given Rs one lakh crore to it, saying he should specify when and under which head the money was given or should “apologise” for “lying”.

“Shah is lying by saying that Rs one lakh crore were given to the state by the Centre. He should tell when and under which head the money was given to the state and get a White Paper issued on the same. He should apologise to the people of the state otherwise for lying,” senior cabinet minister Shivpal Yadav told reporters here.

“The fact is that since the formation of Niti Aayog, UP did get its share of money and it lost Rs 9,000 core straightaway. The Centre even did not help properly during drought and floods,” he said.

Hitting back at the BJP chief, Shivpal questioned Shah as to when Rs 15 lakh will be deposited in accounts of people as promised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Lok Sabha elections while vowing to get back black money stashed abroad.

Defending the SP government on law and order front, Shivpal claimed UP is better than 26 other states and accused Shah os trying to “malign” image of the state. “As far as crime is concerned, according to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), Kerala tops the list with BJP- ruled Madhya Pradesh and Haryana in second and third place, respectively,” he said.

Earlier in the day, Shah attacked SP government in the state, saying the Centre had given it Rs one lakh crore but it was not utilised by the state government.-PTI
