Asansol : Union minister Babul Supriyo on Wednesday defied prohibitory orders to visit the house of a deceased minor girl in West Bengal’s Burdwan district.
Supriyo, the BJP Lok Sabha member from Asansol, alleged that he was prevented by police from entering Jamuria, when he was on his way to meet the family members of the victim.
“WB police, which is no less than TMC (state’s ruling Trinamool Congress) Party cadre hs (has) nw (now) stooped 2 the level of stopping a local MP & a central minister frm (from) meeting his people,” tweeted Supriyo, a singer-turned-politician. The union minister of state for urban development accused Asansol Durgapur Police Commissioner S.N. Gupta of having told him that his visit could breach communal amity.
