New Delhi : Don’t get carried away by advertisements of Prime Minister Modi on Thursday launching the first low-cost flight under UDAN scheme from Shimla to Delhi.
It claims: “Pay Rs 2500 for 500 kms.” The cheapest economy class ticket on the Makemytrip website was, however, Rs 10,882 on Friday, Rs 5300 on Saturday and Rs 10,600 on Sunday. If you are booking for May 3, it is Rs 19,362, dipping a little to Rs 16,182 on May 4 and again going up to Rs 19,082 on May 5. The only date in May when it will be Rs 2036 is on May 25 while the second lowest of Rs 7420 is offered on May 11, 14,17, 27 & 31.
The Congress on Friday put on its website the cheapest flight rates from Delhi to Shimla and Delhi to Chandigarh displayed by Makemytrip, saying “reality surpasses optics.”
In a tweet, it said: “You were promised Rs 2500 fare for flights within 500 kms, but the reality is that fares as high as Rs 16,000.”
