Kolkata: BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari moved Calcutta High Court seeking directions to quash FIR registered against him and his brother in Tarpaulin theft case, hearing of which is due on June 22.

Notably, Contai police following a complaint by a civic worker on June 5 have registered an FIR against two security personnel of Suvendu along with him and his brother Soumendu Adhikari.

According to the civic worker, Suvendu on May 29 through his CRPF security personnel had stolen tarpaulin from the Cyclone Yaas' relief material kept in Contai Municipal Corporation godown.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari said that FIR against him is the ‘old practice’ of TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee.

“Filing FIR against those who go against the TMC supremo is an old practice of hers. No one should have to worry about the FIR against me,” mentioned Suvendu.
