In Tamil Nadu's Mettupalayam, eight people were injured on Monday when a truck collided with a government bus. According to India Today, the front of the lorry struck the side of the bus.
The bus, heading from Mettupalayam to Sathyamangalam, was carrying passengers. The CCTV footage showed that the government bus overturned due to the impact of the collision.
Local residents in the region rushed to help the passengers who were inside the toppled vehicle. Seven passengers and the lorry driver were injured. They were taken to the Mettupalayam government hospital for treatment.
The bus driver, the bus conductor and the others on the bus received minor bruises.
The CCTV footage showed that the incident took place at a three-way junction where a load-carrying lorry turned and crossed the government bus. The bus moved further and a second speeding lorry turned and T-boned it. The bus overturned even as the lorry kept moving forward.
The incident caused a traffic jam on the Mettupalayam road. The local administration sent a rescue vehicle to remove the lorry and the overturned bus. Police registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
