Bhopal : The Union Home ministry has sought a reply from the state government on the incident of stampede at Ratangarh Temple of Datia district. The ministry has asked the govt to submit a preliminary report of the incident by October 17.

The communication from the Central govt has created ripples in government circles and the report is being prepared. The mishap took place on October 13 and was covered extensively by the national media. Meanwhile, the State Human Rights Commission has taken suo motu cognisance of the incident on the basis of news in media about the mishap.
Working chairman of the Commission, Justice A K Saxena has decided that the Commission will get the incident probed at its own level as prima facie it reflects serious carelessness of the administration. Saxena instructed to seek a report on the incident from chief secretary and director general of police within a week. The Commission has sought to know the cause of the incident, deployment of police personnel, action taken after the mishap. The report will also identify the guilty police personnel, number of people losing lives and getting injured in the mishap, compensation given to them and action taken by the government on the recommendations of previous commissions.
