Bhubaneswar : Diwali is approaching. Railw-ays have geared up its mach-inery to prevent carrying cra-ckers in trains. Carrying infla-mmable items in train jour-ney is strictly prohibited. East Coast Railway has formed a special squad to keep a strict vigil on carrying inflammable items in trains for the safety of the passengers during ensuing Diwali.
Carrying of inflammable ob-jects like crackers, gas cyli-nder, acid, petrol, kerosene, etc. during a train journey is a punishable offence under the Railway Act 1989 and the off-ender may get an imprison-ment up to 3 years. To make the train journey safer, ECoR has urged passengers to be careful and not to carry and also not let their co-passen-gers carry inflammable obje-cts while travelling on trains. If any passenger is seen carr-ying inflammable items, co-pa-ssengers are requested to in-form on duty railway staff or police personnel to save train passengers from dan-ger. Passengers can SMS or call Help Line Number- 8455-885777 and 84558-85999 to report any incident concer-ning carrying of crackers on trains. Steps have been taken to make rail users aware of the dangers.
