New Delhi : Congress President Sonia Gandhi and NCP supremo Sharad Pawar will meet today to discuss the strategy for the upcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra, amid strong speculation that Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan is being changed.

She will be discussing the change of leadership in the state with Pawar as also sharing of seats in the election. Former union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde (72) is reported to return to the state as the chief minister, the post he had held earlier also.

There are indications that former chief minister Ashok Chavan may be made the PCC chief, but the decision withheld until the Election Commission ruling on the alleged “Paid News” case against him, the hearing in which was completed on Monday. The idea is to have a Dalit-Maratha combination, the party sources said.
