NEW DELHI : Not taking lightly BJP leader Yashwant Sinha’s charge of the Congress MPs from Andhra Pradesh drowning his voice with slogans when he was speaking on the killing of five soldiers by Pakistan on Tuesday, Congress president Sonia Gandhi rushed to the party MPs in the well and caught hand of one for advice on how to conduct.
Taking the MP aside, she could be heard saying aloud for others agitated against Telangana that she can understand their anguish but they better henceforth express it from their seats without coming into the well to protest. She snubbed a pro-Telangana MP who tried to reach her, telling bluntly not create problems when she is trying to pacify those hurt by the decision to create the new state. Her admonishing had an instant effect as the agitated pro-Andhra MPs did come up to the front rows but did not enter the House well in the afternoon even while their counterparts from the Telugu Desam Party were back in the well raising slogans. Sonia had to take the matter in her own hands after noticing that the agitated party MPs were just not ready to listen to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath and the party whips repeatedly approaching them to go back to their seats.
