Shatrughan Sinha, who has been associated with BJP donkey years, will join the Congress on March 28. Not just that, he will be the party candidate from Patna Sahib. Sinha is a two-term BJP Lok Sabha member from Patna Sahib but was dropped and union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad was fielded instead.
According to electronic media sources, there was a tussle between the Congress and the RJD over Sinha’s candidature as Lalu Yadav’s party, with which Sinha has a good rapport, was said to be keen on fielding him on its own symbol. There was no word, however, about Kirti Azad, another BJP lawmaker who had recently joined the Congress.
Azad is serving his second consecutive term in the Lok Sabha from Darbhanga and the Congress wants to field him from the seat as the constituency has a large population of Maithil Brahmins, its traditional supporters.
