Gandhinagar: Long speculated but now coming true, the eternal rebel of Gujarat, Shankersinh Vaghela is set to join the NCP. According to sources in the Nationalist Congress Party, the announcement of Vaghela joining the NCP is expected around the end of this month by party supremo Sharad Pawar., Veteran Gujarat politician Vaghela’s political life has undergone many twists and turns, but after quitting the Congress last year, his is now in a battle for political relevance in Gujarat, ahead of the 2019 parliamentary elections.
Vaghela commenced his political career with the Jan Sangh which later metamorphosed into the BJP. Now in his late seventies, the veteran politician was an active member of the RSS who along with former Gujarat Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel and present Prime Minister Narendra Modi, played a key in bringing the saffron party to power in Gujarat in 1995.
