New Delhi: Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday welcomed seven defence veterans, including five retired Lt Generals of the Indian Army, joining the BJP. She said their entry in the party will help it in formalisation of policies regarding security of the nation. These decorated officers told a Press meet at the BJP headquarters here “we are retired but we are certainly not tired as we have strength to serve the country again.”
They said they decided to join BJP as they were impressed by the dynamic leadership and patriotism of PM Modi and the vision of BJP President Amit Shah. Those joining the party includes Wing Commander Dr Navneet Magon who was with the IAF medical services. All others are from the Army. They are: Lt Gen JBS Yadav, who retired as deputy chief of army staff, Lt Gen R N Singh, director general of Military intelligence, Lt Gen S K Patyal, retired deputy chief of army staff, Lt Gen. Sunil Kumar, who was director general (information services & IT), Lt Gen Nitin Kohli, ex-DG manpower planning, and colonel R K Tripathi, who serbved as deputy judge advocate general corps headquarters.
