Kolkata: After two defected leaders Sonali Guha and Sarala Murmu, former TMC MLA Dipendu Biswas has written a letter to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and expressed his desire to return to the ruling party.
Talking to Free Press Journal, Dipendu said that for the last seven years as MLA he had worked hard for developing Basirhat (south) assembly constituency.
“Due to some mistake and lack of thinking I had defected to the Bharatiya Janata Party and after realizing the mistake I want to join back to All India Trinamool Congress,” said Dipendu adding that in his letter he had expressed his interest that he wants to take party’s flag from TMC president Subrata Bakshi and will work with the TMC for the benefit of the people.
It can be recalled that on May 18, the former TMC MLA had quit the saffron camp stating that the arrest of the TMC leaders Firhad Hakim, Madan Mitra, Subrata Mukherjee and former TMC minister Sovan Chatterjee amidst the pandemic is the ‘revenge’ politics of the BJP.
It is pertinent to mention that earlier this month, another former Trinamool Congress MLA Sonali Guha took to Twitter and in Bengali sought apology from TMC supremo and urged her to give permission to return to the TMC fold.
“Just like fish cannot stay without water, I cannot stay without you. Being emotional I had left the party. I couldn't settle there. With the broken heart I am seeking for your forgiveness as without it I cannot live and also want to join back the party and spend my life with your affection,” wrote Sonali in Bengali.
