Ramasundram becomes first woman to head paramilitary

New Delhi – With her appointment as Director General of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), which guards India’s frontiers with Nepal and Bhutan, 58-year-old Tamil Nadu-cadre IPS officer Archana Ramasundram has become the first woman to head a paramilitary force.

Besides her, IPS officer K Durga Prasad has been appointed as Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Another IPS officer K.K. Sharma will be new Chief of the Border Security Force (BSF).
