New Delhi : Rush to any small railway station to buy the cardboard tickets for preserving them like the rare postal stamps. The Railways have decided to completely withdraw issue of these tickets from August 1.
It has already switched over to the computer-generated tickets at most stations, but it wants to extend the same also at small stations.
The tickets will be issued using the hand-held terminals at stations where either electricity or internet connection is not available. These terminals have attached thermal printer to print the tickets. The Railways is rushing these terminals to all small stations that do not have assured power supply.
All computers and the hand-held terminals shall remain connected with the Railways’ server to enable the authorities record the income from every ticket sold.
