“The agitation led by Hardik Patel exposes anger, frustration of the younger generation in Gujarat.” Tarun Gogoi
Chief Minister, Assam

Guwahati : Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Gujarat Model of development in the wake of the agitation by the Patel community in the state.

“The Patel community, whose economic condition is relatively better than other communities in Gujarat, is now agitating for reservation in jobs and education exposing resentment among them,” Gogoi said in a statement here.

If the economically and politically powerful community like the Patels was on a warpath demanding reservation, the condition of the other communities in Gujarat could very well be imagined, he said.

“The agitation led by Hardik Patel exposes anger, frustration of the younger generation in Gujarat and indicates the hollowness of the Gujarat model of development,” he said.

The sluggish development of the education sector and its consequent reflection on the lack of job opportunities was well exposed by the movement of the Patel Community, he said.
