Kolkata: Narkeldanga police station on Wednesday once again summoned suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma.
According to police sources, citing ‘death threat’ Nupur once again sought for more time from the police.
The police sources also confirmed that they would once again summon Nupur through email.
Earlier on July 2, Kolkata Police had issued ‘look out’ notice against the suspended BJP leader for her comment on Prophet Muhammad.
Narkeldanga police station earlier had asked Nupur to be present on June 20 and Amherst Street police station asked her to be present on June 25 but she didn’t appear stating risk to her life and sought more time, for which a ‘look out’ notice was issued against her.
Severe violence was seen across the country including Bengal after the people protested and blocked railways due to Nupur’s religious comment.
The Supreme Court had also accused suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma for igniting the country and damaging the social fabric with her allegedly blasphemous comments.
Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari said that the way Kolkata police are ‘active’ and ‘following up’ the Nupur Sharma incident, they should also take ‘action’ against TMC MP Mahua Moitra for ‘criticizing’ Goddess Kali.
