Kolkata: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi may come to Bengal to campaign for the party candidates in the 2019 polls, party MP Pradip Bhattacharya said on Sunday. We are in conversation with the party’s central leadership regarding bringing Priyanka Gandhi in Bengal ahead of the polls. We are planning to organise a rally in Kolkata which she will address.

She is also a part of the star campaigners list of the state Congress,” Bhattacharya, a former state party chief, told IANS. “Apart from Gandhi, new Congress Chief Ministers Kamal Nath, Ashok Gehlot and Bhupesh Baghel of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh respectively, are also scheduled to come to Bengal to campaign for our candidates,” he said.

Congress is fighting on its own in the state after its seat adjustment talks with the Left Front collapsed earlier this month. Party President Rahul Gandhi addressed a rally in Bengal’s Malda on March 23 where he launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party regime at the centre as well as the Trinamool Congress government in the state.
