Coimbatore : Christians across the country gathered in churches and attended processions and special prayers on the occasion of Easter on Sunday. Devout Christians attended special prayer sessions with religious fervour and gaiety at Holy Trinity Cathedral in Coimbatore.
“We celebrate the resurrection of the lord, memory of the resurrection of the lord. We start with special rubrics related to this memorial of resurrection and it will be followed by the holy procession along with the statue of the risen lord and also the holy mass and after the holy mass there will be celebrations and there will be distribution of Easter eggs, which is also part of this celebration,” said Bishop Mar Paul Alappat.
Meanwhile, Easter was also celebrated in Goa with grandeur as the devotees carried out procession with pomp and show. “Today he is risen so today is very special to us and our sins have been forgiven and we are beginning new life with Jesus,” said a devotee, Frankie.
