Bihar DGP fails to cast vote

Patna: Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) Abhyanand could not cast his vote on Thursday as his name did not figure in the voters list. “My name is not in voters list hence I am not able to exercise my franchise,” Abhyanand told PTI. He said the same had happened last time also. The DGP said that due to work pressure he could not do the running around to get his name included in the voters list so that he can cast ballot. Abhyanand lives in his private residence at Patel Nagar under Shashtri Nagar police station area.

Eunuchs cast votes in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Happy over being recognised as the third gender by the Supreme Court, as many as 230 eunuchs on Thursday cast their votes here in the state capital. The All Odisha Eunuch Association, the apex body of eunuchs in the state, asked all its 1,300 members spread across the state to cast their votes and exercise their democratic rights. “This is for the first time we have cast votes under ‘others’ category. Earlier, the eunuchs were casting votes either as male or female categories,” said Madhuri Kinnar, the secretary of the association, who cast her vote at the Saheed Nagar Primary School booth.

Rs 2.86 lakh seized in Bihar

Katihar: The Police on Thursday detained three persons and seized Rs 2.86 lakh from a car traveling on Purnia-Katihar road under Rautara police station area. Police officers suspected

that the money was to be used during elections as flags, posters and other material belonging to the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) were also found in the vehicle.

“The detained persons are claiming to be cigarette traders and are saying the money was collected from other retailers. We are verifying it. An FIR has been registered and the money has been seized,” said Katihar Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Vinod Kumar.
