Mathura : A scene perhaps has never been seen before in the history of railways in India when on Thursday, dozens of passengers of a rail bus had to push the two-coach train for almost two kilometres as it developed technical snag near Masani.
The passengers mostly travelling to Mathura junction, a popular destination in northern India got down from the train near Masani station and started pushing it ahead in a bid to get it kickstarted. And it worked too,
Surprisingly. Railway officials at Mathura were also curious when the train finally reached the station and they admitted the technical snag leading to forcing the passengers to come up with this unique idea.
“It is true that the rail bus engine failed near Masani station and it is not in operation since then,” said PRO at Divisonal Railway Manager’s office, Agra, Bhupender Dhillon.
“As for the allegations that the bus was pushed by the passengers, an enquiry would be conducted to find out the truth as we have no such complaint,” he said. Failure of machinery is always possible in spite of best mechanical care, he added.
