Patna: The opposition members in Bihar legislature on Wednesday refused to accept mango baskets sent to them by chief minister Nitish Kumar. Baskets full of Digha mangoes were distributed among MLAs and MLCs by the directorate of horticulture after the budget proposals of the Agriculture department concluded.

Former chief minister and senior RJD leader Rabri Devi regretted the distribution of mangoes to the legislators at a time when about 200 children have lost their lives due to brain fever. "It is the time for grief and not celebrations," she said and predicted the curse of the children will befall the Nitish Kumar government.

Senior Congress leader Premchandra Mishra, too, said the Congress members would refuse the mango baskets. “Those who consume the mango given by the chief minister will have stomach problem,” he remarked.

Truck loads of Digha mango baskets landed at the legislature complex in the morning for distribution among the legislators. They were also offered two mango saplings.
