New Delhi: The opposition parties extended “full support” to the government on Tuesday over the IAF’s pre-dawn strike on terror camps deep across the Line of Control (LoC), senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said after an all-party meeting convened by the Ministry of External Affairs.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj briefed the Opposition leaders on the operation in the meeting also attended by union ministers Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley and Vijay Goel as also National Conference leader and former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah among others.
We have appreciated the efforts by the forces, they always have our support to end terrorism. Another good thing is that it was a clean operation in which no civilian died and terror camps were specifically targeted,” Azad underlined.
Sushma said she was happy that all parties praised the security forces in one voice and supported the government”s anti-terror operations. She pointed out that an all-India air alert has been already sounded and the Indian Armed Forces as also the security forces are fully prepared to meet any action by Pakistan.
Her stress was that it was a non-military action against Pakistan but an operation to eliminate the terrorists whom it were unable to drive out on its own. She also briefed the meeting about her telephonic conversation with US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo about the Indian air strikes on JeM terror camps in Balakot.
