New Delhi : The Indian Army and the Indian Air Force (IAF) are holding their separate commanders’ conference here from Monday to review the operational preparedness to face any kind of threats from neighbouring Pakistan and China.
While the Army top brass will be engaged in the review of the readiness on the eastern front during their 4-day annual meet in view of China rapidly modernising its armed forces and already having vastly superior infrastructure along the line of actual control (LAC), the IAF will take stock of its modernisation plans in the backdrop of depleting fighter aircraft squadron strength.
The issues listed for discussion in the Army commanders’ meet includes raising of the Mountain Strike Corps, though the Modi government has indicated that it may not have the same strength as cleared by the UPA government.
