NSUI protest for college polls takes violent turn

Bhopal : Over a dozen people, including five policemen and three mediapersons, were injured in a protest by the National Students Union of India (NSUI) outside the Assembly here to demand holding student elections in colleges. Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Singh Chandel said police have arrested 31 activists of NSUI, the students wing of Congress party. The Budget Session of the Assembly started on Tuesday.

The NSUI tried to gherao the legislature building by crossing the barricade. Police resorted to a cane-charge when they climbed the barricades and threw stones at them and the mediapersons, reports PTI.

Five policemen were injured, two of them seriously. They were admitted to a hospital, Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Singh Chandel told PTI.
