NEW DELHI : An RSS-backed Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas has pressed for introduction of Vedic mathematics in schools. It has already prepared a syllabus for classes I to XII weaving the Vedic mathematics into the current curriculum for inclusion by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) its new school curriculum.
Its chairman Dinanath Batra, an RSS ideologue, told reporters here that “Vedic mathematics simplifies all arithmatic calculations” and as an experimental basis it has taken in loop a few private schools in Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh and Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh to introduce the new syllabus from the upcoming academic session.
He said the Nyas has also prepared a six-month certificate course in Vedic mathematics that has been introduced by Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi University in Bhopal and Kalidas Sanskrit University in Nagpur. “We are providing academic support in terms of syllabus and training to these universities,” he said.
Batra and Nyas general secretary Atul Kothari said they will also approach Prime Minister Modi soon to demand that all legal and judicial, government, banking and insurance transactions should be done in the regional Indian languages apart from English and all entrance tests and recruitment tests should be in the state’s official language and in Hindi at the national level, apart from English. They point out that most of the district courts now work in the regional languages but the Supreme Court and the High Courts are still sticking to English and hence they would lobby that the Indian languages must get priority in the higher judiciary as well.
Their other demands are: — Indian languages in civil service interviews;
n SMS in Indian languages be made cheaper; and
n Compulsory use of Indian languages plus English on the product
