NEW DELHI : Don’t panic if you can’t get train reservation due to rush during the peak seasons as the Railways will now run special ‘Suvidha Trains’ during such time. You have to, however, shell out the dynamic fare that may go up to three times the base fare + Tatkal fee. It’s first come, first serve: First 20% pay just base fare + Tatkal. It is 1.5 times, 2 times, 2.5 times and 3 times for every 20% next bookings.

No concession shall be allowed on these trains, not even one to senior citizens, nor any free or complimentary passes or warrants allowed. Also there shall be no First AC, First Class, Executive Class, general class or 2nd sitting.

These trains, in addition to the regular trains, will be run on the basis of demand, particularly to clear winter, summer, Dussehara and Holi rush and other occasions. The scheme effective from July 1 empowers the zonal railways to take the decision about such trains.  Three types of Suvidha Trains will be run:

— Fully air-conditioned with or without stoppages whose base price will be the Rajdhani base fare+Tatkal charges;

— Mixed services with no enroute stoppages like Duranto whose base price is mixed Duronto base fare+Tatkal charges; and

— Mixed services with some stoppages and running as mail/express train whose base price will be the mail/express fare+Tatkal charges.

Besides, the Zonal Railways may also plan fully air-conditioned Shatabdi/Double decker type Suvidha trains with fare of the respective categories of trains. Other charges like reservation fee, catering charge, superfast charges, service tax, etc. will be taken in full wherever applicable. One can book reservation on these trains at least 10 days in advance and maximum up to 30 days.

Tatkal booking timings staggered

New Delhi: Instead of Tatkal train reservation entertained for all classes from 10:00 hrs to 12:00 hrs on the previous day of the journey from the train originating station, The Railways have staggered the timings for booking the tickets with effect from Monday: from 10:00  to 11:00 am for the AC classes and from 11 am to 12 noon for non-AC classes. You, however, better try booking in the first half hour to get knocked out by the ticketing agents of IRCTC, YTSK and RTSA who will be entertained in the second half hour. The new rules say these agents are debarred from booking Tatkal tickets from 10:00 to 10.30 am in case of AC classes and from 11:00 to 11:30 am in case of the non-AC classes. The new rules also barred the ticketing agents from booking tickets during the first 30 minute of opening of booking, i.e. from 8:00 to 8:30 am.
