Patna: Actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha on Thursday said he has no clue as to why he has not been included in the Union Cabinet and asserted the party leadership should fix a role for him in the coming Bihar Assembly polls befitting his stature.
“People ask me why I have not been included in the Narendra Modi cabinet despite having seniority, experience and popularity, but I have no answer,” Sinha told PTI.
“Perhaps they (Prime Minister and central leadership) can answer this,” he said and hoped his non-inclusion was not because of some “ill feeling”.
“For the past one year I have been introspecting… Hopefully four more years of the government is left and ‘achche din’ might come for me too,” Sinha, who served as Union Health and later as Shipping Minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, said.
Asked about his role in the crucial Assembly election to be held later this year, Sinha, popularly known as ‘Bihari Babu’, said, “It’s for the (BJP) central leadership to fix my role befitting my stature and experience.”
Sinha, who has been BJP’s star campaigner for long, added, “Today I have no command, no demand and no expectation.”
He had absented himself from a public meeting of BJP President Amit Shah here in April saying he had no formal invitation to it. His name was also missing from BJP posters and banners put up on the occasion.
On the prospect of Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad joining hands, Sinha said though he has no idea whether their merger or alliance would be formalised “but the coming together of two tried and tested leaders would pose a tough challenge for us (BJP).”
