New Delhi : The Congress party on Wednesday said the Skill India Mission was actually started by the Grand Old Party and has merely been refurbished with a different name by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA Government.

“May I remind Jaitley ji that it was his party who for 10 years didn’t let Insurance, GST bill be passed. Skill India has been launched, a program we started which has been re-launched with a different name,” said Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala.

Prime Minister Modi formally launched the “National Skill Development Mission” and unveiled the new “National Policy for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship 2015” on Wednesday. Union Ministers Arun Jaitley, Manohar Parrikar, Suresh Prabhu, Anant Geete, J.P. Nadda, Ananth Kumar, Narendra Singh Tomar, Thaawar Chand Gehlot, Piyush Goyal and Santosh Kumar Gangwar were present at the event. Jaitley, however, stressed that the NDA had  inherited a ‘depressive’ environment when it came to power 14 months ago and added that the Skill India Mission will bring about a ‘huge change’.
