Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a massive pre-election rally in Bhagalpur, on Tuesday ridiculed the claims made by Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on good governance. Modi simultaneously also attacked RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav and reminded the crowd present there of the multi crore fodder scam in which Lalu was convicted by a designated CBI court. He also alleged Congress has been promoting communal politics in the state.

Referring to Sunday’s much-hyped rally at Gandhi Maidan in Patna which was addressed by Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Nitish and Lalu, the prime minister said that Lalu and Nitish who claimed to be followers of Ram Manohar Lohia, Jai Prakash Narayan and Karpoori Thakur had joined hands with Congress for the sake of capturing power.Modi did not make the mistake this time mentioning his previous controversial DNA remark.

Within an hour of Modi’s speech at Bhagalpur, the state chief minister addressed a press conference in Patna where he said that Modi had presented concocted figures about closure of community health centres in Bihar. Reacting to Modi raising question on his good governance, Nitish said “I do not require any certificate from him”.The PM had earlier stated that the number of community health centers in Bihar had come to 70 from 101 in the last five years. Refuting the claims of good governance of Nitish, the PM said Bihar government was surrendering the fund sent by the centre for development of the state and alleged that Nitish was least concerned about the development of Bihar while Bihar was in the ‘PM’s heart.’

Modi also said that when the earthquake shook Nepal and districts of North Bihar, it was he (Modi) who spoke to Nitish promising immediate central assistance. The PM said when north Bihar districts faced threat of damages due to breach in the barrage he had himself spoken to the magistrates of the region. The PM also said when some people died during the Durga Puja celebrations in an incident of stampede at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, he had immediately contacted the CM. “I am more concerned about Bihar than Nitish Kumar,” Modi said amid much cheer from the crowd.

Referring to his announcement of Rs 1.25 lakh crore special package for Bihar, Modi said that within a couple of days of his announcement, Nitish too promised Rs 2.70 lakh crore special package for Bihar. “He is misleading the people of his own state and Bihar would be spending Rs 2.70 lakh crore from the Central allocation of Rs 3.76 crore that already has been allocated on the recommendation of the finance commission”.
