Mumbai: A Class 10 student of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) board school of Sadar area, Nagpur committed suicide on June 8 by consuming insecticide after her results were declared. The student had scored low marks in her SSC board examinations and had told her mother to prepare for her funeral a day before the results were announced.
The female student, a resident of Hassan Garage near Mohan Nagar, Nagpur was scolded by her father when she informed him about her low scores. Her father allegedly told her to get out from his sight as she had wasted all the tuition money by not performing well in her examinations.
The student was rushed to a nearby private hospital and later shifted to Mayo Hospital. She was admitted in coma and was given treatment on a ventilator. She passed away four days later on June 12. Sources claimed the girl had tremendous pressure from her parents and had suicidal tendencies.
Also, a day before the results were announced, the student had told her mother to prepare for her funeral because her results were to be declared the next day. The student was expected to score above 60 per cent but had secured 47.5 per cent.
