Bhayandar : “The BJP spent crores of rupees on misleading advertisement campaigns in the Lok Sabha elections. The elected government, in an attempt to repay financial favours by influential business houses, is plotting to reduce the importance of Mumbai by shifting important projects to Gujarat,” alleged Congress’s poll campaign committee chief Narayan Rane.
Rane said this while addressing an election rally in Bhayandar in support of Congress candidates Yakub Qureshi (Mira-Bhayandar) and Pratibha Patil (Ovala-Majiwada) on Thursday.
“Despite a strong presence in the region Congress party has been religiously ensuring victory of the NCP candidates in Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections for past 15 years. However, development works have virtually come to standstill in the region. And now rumours of a secret tie-up with the BJP and Shiv Sena are being spread to create confusion amongst the electorate,” said MLC Muzaffar Hussain.
Ridiculing Uddhav Thackeray’s aspirations of becoming the chief minister, Rane said that his dreams will be shattered as the Shiv Sena is destined to be reduced to miserable numbers in these elections.
Launching a scathing attack on the NCP, Rane said that the party was brimming with corruption.
Former Mayor Tulsidas Mhatre, municipal corporators and other office-bearers of the Congress party were present in the rally.
