Lucknow: After carrying out a year-long exercise on organization building the Congress general secretary and in charge of Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka Gandhi will arrive in Lucknow on Wednesday. During her four-day visit to UP, Priyanka will meet the office-bearers of state Congress, frontal organization and other leaders. She will discuss the recently held panchayat elections in UP and large-scale violence by the ruling Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). Besides, she will also meet various farmer’s organizations and discuss the issues such as stray cattle, cane arrears and growing production cost of agriculture.

Earlier on Monday, the Congress general secretary addressed virtual meeting of the advisory council and strategic group of UP Congress. She said that common man is suffering due to growing prices of petrol, diesel, mustard oil, fruits, vegetables and almost all household items. The state as well as the UInion government rather than giving relief to people, has been committing atrocities on them. Priyanka said that production cost in agriculture has doubled and farmer’s income is decreasing day by day.

Citing the large scale of violence in the recently held panchayat elections--incidents of arson, firing, ruckus, striping of women in front of police, Priyanka said that it has shown the double standard of BJP. The members of UP Congress advisory council and strategic group assured that party would launch massive agitation on issues of farmers, youths, women pride and against price hike.

Meanwhile on Monday, the Congress workers took out a unique procession of bullock carts in each district of UP to lodge protest against petrol and diesel price hike.
