New Delhi: The Railways have withdrawn the proposal of providing massage services in the reserved coaches on trains starting from Indore. Railways Minister Piyush Goyal disclosed this in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, noting the proposal was mooted by the Ratlam division of the Western Railway to enhance non-fare revenue by introducing “head and foot massage” on 39 mail express trains originating from Indore.
No full body massage was proposed that can cause discomfiture and incovenience to fellow travellers, particularly women passengers, as feared by Wansuk Syiem (63), a Congress member from Meghalaya, in a question she asked on Friday.
